Interstitial Lung Diseases

Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) represent a diverse group of disorders characterized by inflammation and scarring of lung tissue, leading to progressive impairment of respiratory function. This session will explore the complex pathophysiology, diagnostic challenges, and evolving treatment strategies associated with these conditions. Experts will discuss various forms of interstitial lung disease, including idiopathic interstitial pneumonias, connective tissue–related lung diseases, and occupational lung disorders. Advances in diagnostic tools, imaging techniques, and molecular research have improved clinicians’ ability to identify and classify ILDs more accurately. Early diagnosis is critical for implementing appropriate treatment strategies and slowing disease progression. The session will also highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care involving pulmonologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists in managing these complex conditions. Emerging therapies, including antifibrotic medications and immunomodulatory treatments, are offering new hope for patients affected by these progressive diseases. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the latest research developments, clinical management strategies, and future therapeutic opportunities in interstitial lung disease. Continued collaboration among researchers and healthcare professionals is essential to improving outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with these challenging respiratory conditions.
