Abstract
Background: Pneumonia is a common and serious respiratory disease that can cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. The use of natural products as alternative or complementary therapies for pneumonia has been gaining increasing attention. Carvacrol, a natural monoterpenoid phenol found in many medicinal plants, has been reported to have potential antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects.
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify relevant studies on the effect of carvacrol on pneumonia. The databases searched included PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The search terms used included "carvacrol", "pneumonia", "antibacterial", "anti-inflammatory", and "immunomodulatory".
